Hydraulics

The "Hydraulics" sector is specialized in the design support of primary works (e.g. highways, land planning regulations, works for land safeguard on a large scale and for hydrogeological risk reduction). In this designing phase, it's essential knowing the actual risk situation and the dynamic hydraulic phenomena that have an impact on the works (e.g. water run-off in the areas in which the road/railway network crosses rivers and streams, drainage of the sideslope waters, delimitation of areas showing danger of flooding, control and treatment of rainy waters).

The hydraulic design includes civil and infrastructural works such as aqueducts, sewers and drainage works and all the works concerning the land safeguard strictly linked to fluvial hydraulics. This field is made of studies done to protect the territory from phenomena linked surface hydrography situation, including the design of the planaltimetric reprofiling works of natural riverbeds aimed to the stabilization of creeks and streams, sideslope protection design, levees, dikes and works aimed to the river path evolution control and of the contents of solid transport.

More in detail, the activities include:

  • feasibility studies from an hydraulic viewpoint for primary infrastructures;
  • support to the definition of the most suitable construction typologies for the works to be designed;
  • definition of hydraulic dimensions of the works showing typical hydraulic characteristics;
  • realization of numerical models to simulate the behaviour of the works subjected to the most important hydraulic phenomena;
  • feasibility studies of hydraulic networks (aqueducts and sewers);
  • design of all the phases of the above mentioned works;
  • technical specifications for the construction;
  • specific hydraulic consultancies.
